guess which collection?

tommy ton for jak and jil
i love that tommy ton takes his signature aesthetic of the detail shot from the street to the runway. Ton's eye for the detail - from a concave mirror belt to the sexually charged leather pockets on a sleek jacket to the murky colour blurrings of navy blue fur to sheeny black leather - is immaculate, just like this collection. Next season Ton will be shooting bright young things running to and fro from fashion shows clutching a little black and white pochette or popping the collar of their fuzzy fur jackets. Just you wait.
i never reviewed this collection, but you're going to get tired of it soon enough the amount of times i talk about it. i think these shots, better than the runway ones, capture that sense of sharp, almost severe utilitarianism shot through by the frisson of sexuality - something to do with all that leather, strong lines, and tight hair. And, yes, that belt just begs the statement - is there a mirror in your pants, because i can see myself in them.

PS. And check out kirsty clements in the front row!! Aussie, Aussie, Aussie...
