On paper and in pictures Carven is not the type of thing I normally go for. Short hemlines, flashes of navel, sexy french sophistication.. I'd rather stick with some classic english refinement and a healthy dose of calf-grazing skirts, all the same. But there is something refreshing and undeniably, well... exciting, about Carven. I can't seem to get it out of my head. The clothes are fun, simple and with a twist of uniqueness in cut or colour that makes them stand out from the crowd. The Opening Ceremony Blog likened them to clothes you could have fun in - clothes to go to a pub in. Stocked in Sydney at Bloodorange and Parlour X, and online at net-a-porter and Brownsfashion, it's becoming increasingly evident that a slice of Carven is going to be very easy to get my hands on. And with price points that are incredibly low for a revived french couture house (anyone remember Decarnin's price hike at Balmain?), think about $400 for cute little dresses and a smidge more for the coats and satin pieces, Carven is looking better and better by the second.
