After missing last week's round up i wanted to include some of those in this weeks, and had full intentions of doing so. But stylish over-achievers this week have been in abundance, plentiful, abound... and thus i have no need. So, without further ado:
Diane Kruger
Diane Kruger is that woman that you want to hate, god, you want to hate her so badly, but you just can't. I mean, look at her, the face that could launch a thousand ships, that blonde beauty that is so characteristic of the germans, those long limbs, that fashion savvyness that is distinctly european... I mean, she is wearing what is, in essence, a very shapeless dress, and she looks a million bucks. Maybe because she's Diane Kruger, but maybe because it is that special kind of dress that is impeccably tailored, gathered ever so lightly across her chest, rising into a one-shouldered neckline that is just so damn gorgeous... And anyone, i can hardly resist when celebs go out to black tie functions and really pull out all the stops. She managed to get pacey into a tux and bow tie. What a star.
Alexa Chung
Hmmmm. Alexa Chung. Well, what can i say in my defence, the girl is a veritable style icon to me. And i really like some of what she is wearing here. The 3.1 Philip Lim top is simply lovely, and philip lim is fast becoming my favourite new designer, the leather pants are very edgy, and although they make her legs look like little pins, she does look very cute. Enough of the good, that coat is all wrong. If it's cold enough for that kind of coat in London now, then you shouldn't be wearing a flimsy little silk top. And navy does not go with black, unless you are blair waldorf.
But she has chanel on her feet. That seals the deal for me. She looks F.A.B.
Scarlett Johansen.
What a body. What. A. Body. And you can't even see it in this outfit! Scarlett was dressed magnificently well in an adrogynous chic pant-suit in what looks like really silky satin. It was a bejewelled ivory jacket on top and a pair of cuffed pants (bang on trend) on the bottom with patent heels. very classy, very chic. I would have preferred it with a darker tee-shirt, maybe burgundy, plum or emerald, but it doesn't matter. She looks really really great. She looks actually quite french, which is probably why i like it so much. And her darker hair really suits her. a 10/10.
Michelle Williams
I really feel for Michelle Williams. Someone she cared for a lot, and the father of her child, dies, and the media swarms all over her like 'flies to wanton boys' in the immortal words of shakespeare. It must be hard to live your life, and maintain a semblance of normalcy when the media is desperately trying to get a shot of you doing, well, anything, that they could attach a tagline to. And it must even be harder to start a new relationship, which is why i'm hesitant to post these pictures, mindful as i am that it is just further buying into the whole media crazy around her. If she wants to date, then bloody well let her. It is a sign of how obsessed and relentless the photogs are that there isn't even a clear shot of this outfit or her face. She was just out for dinner with her new boyf Spike Jonze, and she looked absolutely lovely. The detail on the dress is really pretty, and i love the contrast of textures to break up the all black. There's just enough shaggy fur/muppet hair to be interesting, and not enough to be crazy and psychotic. Nicely done Michelle.
Julia Restoin-Roitfeld
It's almost unfair putting her on this list, i mean, she is not only french, but she is also carine 'the goddess' roitfeld's daughter, a veritable beauty in her own right, and a real fashion plate. Her taste is exquisite, as can be seen by this dress and its accessories here. It's really weird, i didn't use the other photo, but it sort of changes colour depending on the light, which is just really fascinating. I mean in the long shot it looks dark blue, in the close up it is a more tealy navy and then in another shot the dress is a definite green colour. Either way it bring out the colour of her eyes like nothing else, she has a perfect choice of accessories and she looks stunning. She is french after all.
Alexa Chung... again.
Ah you're all probably sniggering in front of your computer screens. 'Hrose is such a fangirl'. Well, let me tell you, it's quite hard because i think Miss Chung is just adorable, with a really cute sense of style and a beautiful face, but she is also the little hussy dating my future husband. My feelings are mixed. But then the chung goes and wears something as amazing as this Sonia by Sonia Rykiel military coat in what looks like really comfortable camel wool, a pair of super high chunky heels (my favourite kind), a cute little box handbag, and underneath the coat a lovely cuordoroy overalls dress and collared shirt. She looks really good, even better than the leather pants ensemble before. Perhaps if she had worn this coat with that outfit it would have looked a little better.
My only problem is that she is looking really really painfully thin. You can't say that kind of stuff on tfs or your post gets deleted, but seriously, she is looking dangerously like a lollipop. You know, those kinds of girls where their head is huge in comparison with the rest of their body. It could be the angle of the photo, but then, it could be that she has lost a lot of weight, which she has. Come on Alexa, go and eat a big meal. You know you want to!
Alright, that's got to be all for a week. What stars everyone has been.
hopefully next week there will be less people looking amazing. i don't think i could take another week like this haha.
