i want to be a writer... is this the course for me:
arts/media communications
'A four year degree encompassing studies in the humanities and social sciences as well as broad professional training in the media and communications field.
This degree combines vocational study in the media with humanities and arts. Students will acquire a portfolio of vocational skills relevant to the fields of print, radio, television, online media and media relations, as well as an advanced education in the history and theory of the media. In the fourth year of their degree, all students will be placed in an internship in an organisation broadly relevant to their career goals. From an academic perspective the degree offers a truly interdisciplinary education, with units of study potentially drawn from Arts, Economics, Law, Education and Social Science. From a vocational perspective, the degree is focused on producing students with portable, flexible skills which are useful in many different parts of the media industry. The Faculty of Arts encourages all its students to participate in the University's Exchange Program. It allows students to undertake a semester or year at a university in another country and receive credit for the units completed.'

for so long i've wanted to do this advanced arts course that gets you honours in 3 years... but i'm thinking that this course would be better. and i'm worried that if i let this course pass by then i'll be stuck with an honours degree in arts and nothing to recommend me to a career in journalism other than my pen. is this kind of thing required for working at a magazine? and the internship in fourth year could be so helpful in terms of getting a foot in the door....
