Yes, it's time to bring it back, it's time i stopped being so lazy and posted for you my top 5 or so looks of the week, candid and created, red carpet and rolled jeans. Although, from memory, there are no rolled jeans in this post. I shall have to remedy that for next time! Onwards and upwards!
Alexa Chung - Glamour Awards
tfs
I do think the top of this dress is a little ill-fitting, but i don't care, isn't she gorgeous! this is a veritable return to form of one of my absolute fashion favourites. For a while there, for me, she dropped off the radar, wearing hipster clothing and not looking that great at all. But now she's back, and better than ever in cute mini dresses and mis-matched shoes that some might think are ugly, but i think are just gorgeous! THe sleeve detail on this dress is amazing, the bottom half fits like a glove, a smidgeon too short for me, but hey, if you've got it flaunt it. And though i'm still in arms about her cutting her hair, you can't deny it looks great here. Ah Alexa, how i adore thee!
Alexa Chung - Royal Art Show

I know, it wouldn't be the 'you look lovely today' post without a double alexa shot, now would it? There are so many great things about this outfit, the grey, swirly wirly colour of the dress and how it drapes across the bodice and then in a sort of fabricated (har har) bias cut across the skirt, the nonchalance of the cardigan (i bet it was comfy and warm), her silver shiny loafers that give it that element of comfortable cool, and her absolutely gorgeous (give it to me now) chanel 2.55 in a pastelly pink that is so cute it makes me wish i could be a kid again. All this chanel she's wearing is making me a little bit jealous though. But not so much as the next girl:
Lily Allen
tfs
Ah Lily, we all know she scrubs up like a diamond, but sometimes you think she' just wants to be comfortable and warm. And what's wrong with that? While i'm not exactly a denim person myself i am open to the challenge it presents, and i just love this shade, especially on pale people. Dark denim is gorgeous and fluid and rich, and if you get it in good quality (like the stuff for lanvin acne) then it can be just as lovely to wear as the softest silks. I like the way Lily has dressed down (from memory she had just gotten off the plane) but not in a sloppy way like she used to, but in a smart casual way. Little chanel ballet flats, a big beanie, a grey, slightly oversized jumper and that huge 2.55 in a stunning colour of royal blue. I really hate that Lily has all this access to Chanel, god i do. These people make me so jealous! I spent a couple of hours a few weeks ago in the Chanel shop with a friend just browsing around and generally feeling sorry for ourselves. Oh to be rich and beautiful and famous!
Sienna Miller - MTV Music Video Awards
Celebutopia
Sienna is another one of those girls who sort of dropped off the radar isn't she? I mean, it's sort of her own fault what with her terrible personal life and then her losing her fashion mojo and throwing herself into work. But i think this dress, with its sequin-y goodness, slightly exaggerated shoulders (but not enough to cry BALMAIN) and those gorgeous Nicholas Kirkwood heels, can signify her glorious return to fashion's fold. This is actually a dress from her line Twenty8Twelve, and i think this definitely shows that it's not just another celebrity fashion venture, but rather a collaborative process between her and her sister to create beautiful, well made and striking clothes. I actually have a shirt from Twenty8Twelve that, this picture reminds me, i should wear more. It's in that same sumptuous emerald green (though less sparkly) and in a gorgeous crepe de chine. I am going to wear it more. And all because of you, Sienna!!
Leighton Meester - MTV Music Video Awards
Celebutopia
This angle is actually quite weird, it makes her look very small and out of proportion, which i don't think she is in real life. What it does show, though, to absolute perfection, is how great this dress is. I mean, we all know Leighton from Gossip Girl, and she never really gets to experiment with her style on that show in the same way that Blake or Taylor can. And then in real life it is always a huge shock whenever she's not wearing anything plaid, adorned with bows, or with an assortment of coloured tights. But the thing is that out of the Gossip Girls i think Leighton has the best style, classic with a twist, fine tailoring (she's a good friend of Derek Lam's), great colours, and that quirky detail that sets a dress out from the crowd. And in this one she totally has it, a rock chick look perfect for MTV with it's bodycon sillhouette, but then fashion cred with the sheer/opaque panelling, the cut away sleeves, the extra draping on the hips and the sense that this is an LBD for girls who just don't wear LBDs. Well done Leighton!
Emma Watson - Rodarte Dinner

well, well, well.... Well well well well well well well... I don't know what to say. I'm always bemoaning the fact that Emma never makes that much of an effort, that she doesn't really wear any colour, that she doesn't understand her body, that she plays it so safe. Well, this must be the week for people going a little bit off the beaten track in this lovely Rodarte dress, all spider web knitting, bright blue draping, netting, mesh, tye-dye, and the cute messy up do. I love it all, and although i might have preferred it with some of those crazy nicholas kirkwood for rodarte or christian louboutin for rodarte shoes that provide the best counterpoint for their cute, fairy-tale fantasy garments, this is still lovely. Well done Emma, well done!
And now all there is to say is TGIF!
