Last week my (very cool) friend Frances and I went to the launch of 'Mrs Press' for David Jones. It was a fabulous fashion party with towers of macaroons and cocktails that were half vodka and half lemonade and NO-ONE was eating a thing, so naturally frances and I took one for the team and scoffed as many macaroons as we could. Washed down by very alcoholic cocktails and nervousness it was a recipe for (almost) disaster. Almost... but we didn't! we may have giggled a little too much but other than that we were very well behaved indeed.
photos from the launch, the girl lounging by the pool was our favourite! all she did was lounge! ha - cara stricker
Mrs Press is the label of Clare Press, former features Editor of Vogue Australia now designer/blogger ( http://mrspress.blogspot.com) . The collection was shown as a 'presentation' with the models roaming through the house in their pretty vintage-inspired designs, or lounging by the pool, or reclining on conveniently located windowsills and chaise lounges. One set were even helping each other get into their vintage knickers and camisoles in the bathroom. 'Professional Lolling', basically, in the words of Frances' very, very cool publishing friend. The models were kitted out in the new collection of Mrs Press clothes - 40s and 50s silhouettes in modern fabrics, beautiful floaty chiffon tops and jacquard dresses in macaroon colours of lemon yellow, mint green and candy pink. And one particularly fabulous floor length white dress that make a gorgeous summer-time party outfit. Mrs Press was also celebrating the launch of their 'dressing table' line at David Jones (double spruik! come shop at david jones, where i work haha!) featuring candles, hand creams and various other goodies. We were given a hand cream and they smell absolutely delicious, all spring-y florals and lightness.
we were very lucky to be there and we had the best time ever!! a little taste of what's to come hopefully... when we are future fashion superstars with wardrobes full of balmain and givenchy! (but actually)...
the first look is the top my friend frances wants, isn't it wonderful? mrs press lookbook / cara stricker
PS - still without internet, TORTURE indeed. if you want to kill a blogger, just take internet away from them and enjoy watching them try and live longer than a week. I'm at my godmother's house at the moment, savouring being able to check facebook and the like.
