A long break from these posts while i've had a long break from the internet... but hollywood keeps rolling ever on, and therefore so must celebrities showcase cute little outfits, whether i'm there to pass comment on them or not. This week i am. Joy! Also happening this week - I bought a beautiful frosted pink sheer lip stick from Nars that i absolutely love. It gives just the right amount of shine vs colour. I've also been to Torquay for a well-earned beach break. Even though the weather wasn't quite beach worthy it was still enjoyable just to chill and do absolutely nothing. And, it is less than 3 weeks till my birthday! (and by default 3 weeks till christmas). Yippee!!!
Gwyneth Paltrow
Wow. I'm just going to say it since you are all thinking it - i want to look liker her when i'm 36/8 or however old she is. Look at her. Look. At. Her. I know that figure comes from years of dieting and self denial and working with Madonna's psycopathic trainer but still. Wow. She glows. Her hair is healthy. That dress hangs on her like it was never meant to be worn by anyone else. I love this peachy nude colour (see below), especially on fair skinned people. Gwyneth looks like this beautiful goddess.
Ashley Olsen
Just to preface, i do not like those shoes. Loafers are cool in an Alexa-Chung kind of way, but Ashley wears serious loafers with odd outfits. However up rom that is a truly chic, truly classic look that i actually quite like, but i am a huge fan of long skirts though. The jumper looks incredible, cosy and warm, with that dip-dyed hem. It reminds me of a dries van noten one from last season that i would kill to own. The long coat swathes around her and she looks comfortable and warm, yet still cool and chic. Ashley Olsen is the more interesting of the twins for me because of the direction her style has taken. It was clear the way she was going to go about a year ago when she started to dress more business like, throw herself into her fashion label, and declare herself finished with acting. Her style is a reflection of a mature persona she wants to show. She does look old here, but i don't think she looks dowdy. That is very interesting indeed.
Rose Byrne
Look at that hair! Wow! When her hair is all sleek and serious she looks sleek and serious, and makes her clothes look drab and boring. But when it's mussed up like that she looks like a cute, quirky woman with a fashion taste to boot. I love that she kept her hair all messy and toussled to go with this dress, which definitely requires hair with a little bit of personality. I love how monochrome her outfit is yet how fascinating the dress is, note to self, create interest in monotone outfits with details of pattern, texture and contrast. The slick of red lippy doesn't hurt, either.
Kate Bosworth
Speaking of nude dresses... This one is wild, which is a lot to say for a dress in nude. Unlike Gwyneth's sophisticated and simple elegance this dress makes a bold statement. I could see someone like Clemence Poesy or Chloe Sevigny also wearing this dress - it's fun, quirky and a little bit silly. The huge bow I actually love, i think it's a great little embellishment that adds interest to the shift dress shape. And those sequins, well, it gives this illusion of the wearer actually being much smaller (not that Kate needs that illusion) and wearing a completely other dress, one that is sequined and strapless. I actually think that's kind of playful and cute.
Keira Knightley
There are coats and there are coats and this is of the latter. I don't really care much about finding out about the rest of the outfit, the jeans look like a nice colour and those motorcycle boots are an interesting touch, it's the coat that i'm concerned with here. It's gorgeous. It looks so warm! after spending winters in New York and Paris where i shivered in coats that did NOT keep me warm I am determined that next time i go i shall be properly attired. THis coat looks perfect, leather, with a fleece lining. Wow. That would be warm indeed. I can't stop looking at it. I also love that elephant colour, so chic, a much better alternative to brown.
