new girl in town

Apart from Abbey-Lee flashing her usual overbitten pout and Catherine McNeil's triumphant return to the catwalk as the sexy voluptuous minx of Prada and Louis Vuitton's retro dreams there was a serious lack of antipodean presence, despite all the hoo ha about Samantha Harris (the first Aboriginal Supermodel?) and even Miranda Kerr, who clomped through Balenciaga and Prada without that much to-do.

Oh no, the title of 'Australian Most Wanted' this season went not to any of these lovely ladies, but to a little known Eastern Suburbs native of scandinavian heritage - Julia Nobis. With her very androgynous looks and strong profile she could be everything from a 90s grunge girl to a pre-raphaelite beauty, and the designers knew it. She was the ultimate blank canvas this season - perfect fodder for calvin klein minimalism and dries van noten excess. What a surprise for a girl who, by her own admission, is a major tomboy and is 'still learning about this fashion stuff'. I think she's going to pick it up just fine.

Anyone want to bet on when Kirsty gives her the cover? I'm willing to lay down serious money for July, mark my words.
