I have found it particularly hard to find my friday picks for the week. I know i've been having a sartorially low semain, but seriously, has every celeb been feeling the same wardrobe woes as me? Bizarre with a capital B if i ever saw it. Anyway, without further ado...
Leighton Meester/Blair Waldorf
[justjared]And this one is when she was in character as Blair, so does it technically count? maybe we should be congratulating the stylist on the show rather than her? the win belongs to him rightfully, does it not? Or is it just a tad too early for someone sleep deprived to be asking these kinds of deep philosophical questions? Regardless, Leighton (blair) looks lovely here. The headband and cropped jacket are very cutesy infantile, but paired with the elbow length gloves and chic LBD the outfit evolves into something rather more elegant and grown up. And this outfit is all in the details. While sometimes i like effortless looks i also think that putting some thought into an ensemble shows some passion for your clothes. Clearly Blair is just that kind of person, as can be seen with the pearls and ribbed tights.
Oh, and i think this photo proves that navy and black can go together. take that mother!
Sienna Miller
[tfs]A slight shock this one. I am ever nostalgic for the sienna of old, the one who although sent boho to a cold cold grave, did it looking so damn good. Most of the time nowadays she looks glum (and you would, hounded by papparazzi like she is) and is dressed in a boring, if not dowdy way. But i chuckled when reading tfs and a member said something along the lines of, i bet she reads this thread (and hears us saying that we miss her old 2004/05 style) and is recycling some of her old clothes. This gillet, the skinny jeans, the oversized black jumper, the little scarf and ballet flats is so Sienna 2005 it's not funny. And i LOVE it. she looks good, no great, so effortless and chic, and for the first time in a while she looks a little cheerful.
I know people will moan and complain that it's sienna miller, and yes, i don't rate her as very stylish now. But this post is about who is looking good this week in my opinion, and i think she looks great here. If it was MK olsen in this outfit no-one would question it for a minute. It would be a unanimous and resounding vote in her favour. So let's give Sienna the benefit of the (fashion) doubt, okay!
Valentine Fillol-Cordier
[tfs]I'm not actually 100% sure if this was this week or not, there was no context given on the photos on tfs, and seeing as she is pictured here with jamie hince i think it might be from earlier, at least the pre-moss days. Which actually makes this photo quite old. But still, it's the first time i've seen it, and we need to break up the candid looks with something a little more dressed up! This dress is one of the colours i am absolutely loving right now: mustard yellow. The silky material and smock style looks amazing on her, as it would on other effortlessly cool people like her. Smock is a hard cut to work with though, in the grand scheme of things. But i love her clock necklace. And that colour really is stunning.
Oh, and lastly, don't you think the photo on the right is just fabulous? so cool. and her cheekbones look like they could cut diamonds.
Vanessa Ann Hudgens
[celebutopia]Hmm did you double take reading that title? I feel a little weird, but then, give credit where credit is due. The dress than Vanessa wore to the Sydney premiere of High School musical was fan-fucking-tastic, and she looked absolutely stunning. just wow! her skin was glowing, her hair was all messy up-do which is just so cool, the dress was elegant without being ageing, and compared to ashley tisdale in try hard lace mini dress she looked like a grecian pillar of class. If only this had come out earlier, it would have been perfect inspiration for my formal dress this saturday. I love the detail on the collar, and the glittery embellishments. A++, Gabriella! (slightly shameful i know her HSM's character's name).
Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen
[celebutopia]This was a late entry, found on thursday night, so just scraping into the deadline. The twins were attending a book signing in LA, and they chose to outfit themselves in that nonchalant chic way of theirs. Ashley was stunning in a tight leather skirt and long patterned overshirt paired with what looks like those super high YSL platforms that make podiatrists and chiropractors the world over rub their hands together in greed and excitement. MK on the right, wore a very casual and comfortable looking silk parka dress cinched in with a corset belt and great givenchy shoes (i think, feel free to correct). I love both of them, although Ashley wins here for me (surprisingly).
