you look lovely today... just today?

This week has been particularly challenging, the beginning of tutorials has meant i've been flat out with work, and then the fact that i got a job! starting next week i'm going to be the 'fashion office co-ordinator' at NW magazine (an australian weekly gossip mag), an internship that i am so incredibly happy to have and to start. I'm basically going to be helping on shoots, maintaining the fashion closet, administration jobs and just generally helping out however i can, and i can't say how excited i am for the position! now if only i can decide what to wear. :) 

None of which, of course, has anything to do with what celebs have been doing this week, including but not limited to, the filming of new seasons of gossip girl, getting on the campaign trail for the new movies/plays/business ventures and generally getting caught doing average things like driving their car by the paparazzi. Ah, fame, don't you just love it! 

Sienna Miller

Thank God for the G.I Joe press tour. And thank God for Sienna's innate sense of style. I find that whenever she's dressing down she nails it, like this for example, the perfect play on proportions, material and shape. I love the baggy, loose, light white singlet top paired with the heavier cropped pants with their slight pattern. They look like they might be wool blend or something. I also like those silver heels, very glamorous. That's the best thing about Sienna, she's very real. She doesn't have a stylist and so, like any normal person, she gets it right but she also gets it wrong. And here she is oh so right!

Diane Kruger

WOAH. This dress is incredible. On its own the person who wore it would have made it into this post, be it Diane or Jordan (well, maybe not Jordan haha). I love the colour, a rich, resplendent ruby red that pops against her skin and golden hair. I also love how this dress is so beautifully executed, the asymmetrical style is balanced out with the peplums on the skirt and all the twists and turns of the dress seem almost natural, organic, as if the fabric has just ended up like that because of the way she pulled the dress on. What makes this outfit truly amazing is the way that Diane has made it her own, the addition of the glittery sparkly cuff (very glam), the box clutch, the gorgeous shoes, all of it adding, but not taking attention away from the dress itself, which really, is the true star of the show. Bravo!

Blake Lively

Ah Blake. I do love her, i think she's incredibly gorgeous, a natural beauty, with legs that go on for miles, that mane of hair (she, if anyone, epitomises that yeats poem 'who could love you for yourself alone and not your yellow hair?') and her golden girl smile. The problem with Blake is that she doesn't really know how to dress her body which leads to fashion travesties like her golden globe outfit, and her met gala outfit this year. She can do so much better! I loved this look, and yes it was on the set of gossip girl so technically credit goes to the stylist, but i think this proves that Blake does need a stylist, despite her opinion otherwise, just to help and guide her in the right direction. The stripy knit top is adorable, i seriously want one in my wardrobe right now, and paired with the shorts gives the effect of a jumpsuit (which she loves, having been a repeat offender on the jumpsuit front) without all of the problems that a jumpsuit actually causes, namely barrel body. Well done Blake (and gossip girl stylist).

I have a confession, despite the vogue was for Mischa/Marissa and her boho luxe look i much preferred Rachel/Summer's polished if a little extravagant elegance. I also liked Summer's no nonsense approach to life, as opposed to Marissa airy-fairy personality and character. Summer was generally more interesting, more engaging, and just so much more fun to watch. She was Blair to Blake's Serena, a little conniving, a little evil, but oh so good! I love this outfit that Rachel wore out to do something normal that celebs do all the time, like driving her car or something, even though it's ostensibly simple there are added elements of greatness, like the puffed out sleeves, alluding to the big shoulder trend at the moment, and the colour combination of that lilac-grey that goes so perfectly with white-washed denim and brown accessories. This is an incredible casual outfit that manages to not be boring or mundane, and yet to look immensely comfortable and natural at the same time. There is nothing fake about this outfit. And i love that!
