monday-friday.

I was doing a little dreaming about my fantasy french wardrobe, and so i decided to do a series of outfits on polyvore, all with the chanel 2.55 which will NEVER leave my arms once i own it, and other items of clothing that i would love to own in the future. I have discovered Polyvore is a great distractor from study. Procrastinators or the world unite... tomorrow!

Monday;
Fabulous Future Me (henceforth referred to as FFM) would never do something as banal as work on the first day of the week, so monday is always reserved for shopping. Quite frankly, after the weekend FFM is never up to do anything that requires much strength of mind, and nothing is more soothing and rejuvenatory than spending hours slipping your feet into the soft cocoon of leather shoes and hearing the rustle of tissue paper that signifies an especially fabulous pair are about to make their entrance. Comfort when shopping is essential, so the pierre hardy ankle boots are pulled on, but not at the sacrifice of style, which comes in the form of the vanessa bruno skirt (I NEED IT!) and a ruffled pink top. A satin lapelled cropped blazer for androgyny and the barbour for warmth... just in case. Of course, FFM shall be living in the lap of bohemian luxury in London, so the shops will be Dover Street Market, Harvey Nichols, Brick Lane...

Tuesday;
FFM's first novel was such a hit that she nabbed a job working freelance for vogue and vanity fair whilst leisurely typing out her second novel. So while she lounges around her beautiful apartment typing an article for Vogue on the history of silk she is casually attired. In the afternoon she runs out to get a punnet of chocolate strawberries and a bottle of champagne to celebrate the conclusion of the article with her best friend, a gorgeous up and coming actress about to get her big break in the new Joe Wright film, an appropriation of Breakfast at Tiffany's... Some say she'll be the new Audrey Hepburn, but to FFM she's the loveliest girl in the world.

Wednesday;
FFM's adorable Boy is currently in a raved about play on the west end, garnering critics' approval as well as adoration from screaming teenage girls. FFM would never reveal this, but before she was FFM she was a screaming teenage girl for him as well. She couldn't believe it when they met at a party and he said he had read her book, and loved it. The rest, as they say, is history. FFM goes to see him wearing a cute military-inspired outfit and the ankle boots again, FFM needs the height advantage, he is 6'1" after all.

Thursday;
FFM has lunch with the editor of Vanity Fair who gives her an incredibly interesting article to work on, the history of shopping and how it has become such a phenomenon in recent times. What will happen in this time of recession? FFM, a shopper with a social conscience, is intrigued, and feels glad that she bought these chanel shoes from a vintage store. The history of shopping is an interesting one, and it gives her an excuse to re-read that marvellous biography of Marie-Antoinette 'Queen of Fashion' by Caroline Webber. FFM sets up interviews with renowned shoppers like Victoria Beckham, the owner of Harvey Nichols and the owners of eco-clothing lines and vintage boutiques to contrast modern perceptions of shopping. Should turn out very well indeed!

Friday;
FFM has to go meet her editor at her publication house to put the final touches on the cover of her new book. It's a romance, but an odd one, and the cover should reflect that. FFM is always careful to dress like a business woman when visiting her publication house because she doesn't want them to think of her as the untalented girlfriend of an actor whose fame is only because of her partner, not of her own merit. Of course, her editor knows that she met the Boy long after the first novel had been published and won acclaim, but sometimes FFM feels she needs to remind them that she is a published author of some merit. (with the royalties to show it)

So what do we think of Fabulous Future Me? isn't she, well, fabulous!? *sigh* dreaming has been fun, but now i best get back to that laborious essay on the enduring power of the characterisation in King Lear. wish me luck!
