LFW; Christopher Kane, otherwise known as if you wanted to see fashion based on planet of the apes...

When i read on style.com that Christopher Kane had based his show on planet of the apes i was a little apprehensive to click. I respect Christopher Kane and i love whenever someone is daring enough to wear one of his dresses i applaud them, i don't think i could ever do it myself. But sometimes when people go a little too out there with their themes they lose me, who, as the previous post will show, is just happy to see a little tulle and tiering.

But i was ultimately rewarded when i clicked onto the show. The looks were not crazy leather bondage, like i thought it would be, but rather gorrila print dresses (oh yes, you read that right) and circular motifs and embellishments that ran through most of the collection. It was fresh, i really liked it, it was modern, and it was daring in a way that Kane often is. The colours were bright and bold as they should be for summer, the hems ran short, also good for summer, and the fabrics looked thin and breathable, another big tick for summer.

The circles on sleeves, dresses, skirts and pants were cool. Some people haven't liked it, but i really did. I thought it was clever and quirky, lending an edge to the dresses that will really make them favourites with the likes of london party girls. The leather pants would be perfect on mary kate olsen, the corsety dress i could really see working on the body of Daisy Lowe.

My only criticism is that the collection wasn't as cohesive as it should have been. Some of the pieces came right out of left field; after dozens of circle embellished dresses stormed onto the catwalk there was one fringed with feathers... and then two more circle dresses later another bright orange sweater dress. a sweater dress in summer? i don't get it... But apart from that, a great show filled with really really really cool dresses. I wish i had the body, the money and the mind to wear such a dress.

this was the weird dress. i dont understand its place in the collection?
