one girl, one polyvore set

I don't think I've ever been this excited by something so, well, simple. It's minimalism, and it's coming to a september issue near you. The three big stories coming out of the past season are "god created woman" 50s va-va-voom, land girl and her shearling aviator coat, and... Minimalism. Phoebe Philo minimalism, that is. Tommy Ton just devoted a three part photo extravaganza to it. Sally Singer calls it "the key to fashion right now". Vogue UK's september issue provides you with a "how to" - the bags, the shoes, the sumptuous cashmere coats and the long-line evening skirts. It is this month's Vogue UK that inspires this post, actually. They had a section called "two girls, one rail", in which they got Elisa Sednaoui and Poppy Delevigne to put their own, youthfully exuberant spin on minimalism using the same rail of clothes. This wasn't any ordinary rail, mind, this one was filled with Stella McCartney, COS, Celine, Gucci and Calvin Klein. Still, the idea was neat indeed. The girls were asked to bring items from their own closet and mix them in - minimalism, but their own way. 

Here is my "one girl, one polyvore set" guide to minimalism. I tried to mix in a bit of my crazy jewellery and penchant for colour, but there's no doubt about it, I'm feeling the minimalistic look right now. How else to explain how comfortable I've been the past few days in my mum's old camel coat - worn at the elbows and oh so lovely - and a simple a-line skirt? It's 90s in a way that is very refreshing. 90s when Kate Moss was still a bright young thing and Sadie and Jude were the it-couple of Primrose Hill. Luuuuv it. The items used in the set are:

No doubt about it, my must-buy list for this season includes a tangerine orange structured bag, a pair of statement, clunky heels a la reed krakoff and ANYTHING from Carven, but preferably that beautiful, beautiful cocoon coat. How wonderful with a simple white shirt and a pair of battered boyfriend jeans... but that's a whole other polyvore set entirely.
