London in Love from Vogue Italia March 2010 "Chapter 8"
Ph: Bruce Weber
Models: Tom Daley and Kate Moss
Admit it, the teenager in you kind of has a crush on Tom Daley. I know I did, way back when, (and I'm not going to lie, I still kind of do). I mean, look at him! What a golden boy. That's why this editorial, even though it's just a 4 page spread, is kind of fantastic. Because there is no-one else quite like Bruce Weber to capture young, athletic beauty in that golden-glow way. Weber understands well that very A.E Housman melancholy that surrounds athletes - that of "early though the laurel grows, it withers quicker than a rose". That's why his subjects are always so heavily saturated in colour, so lovingly lit, adonises gracing the mortal world with their presence (and sporting prowess). It's tongue in chic as they splash water and Kate Moss signs a W cover (Vogue Italia doesn't mind cross-promoting), and pull their costumes down low and flash their gold medals. So - it's a little weird that fully grown Kate Moss is cavorting in costume with such a young kid. But maybe, just like the rest of the world, she has a little crush on him too.
