At the moment I'm drawn to things that are shocking. Yellow spray roses, so small, so insignificant, and yet completely demanding of all attention. Angela Lansbury, resplendent in those awful Terry Richardson glasses on the cover of The Gentlewoman. Scents that are green (pine needles and wood in Maison Balzac's Le Bois) and orange at the same time (Grown's mandarin and rosemary leaf balm, which smells like my garden). And lastly, my tarte au citron parfaite, labour intensive to the end (40 minutes of whisking lemon cream does your arms wonders, I'm sure), but oh! that tangy curd, Pierre Herme's own recipe, light but sharp as a tack, which is just "spectacular" when served with raspberries (thanks for the tip, Pierre), really, really takes the cake.
