One of the most wearable things about the new minimalism isn't what you would think. Not wide legged high-waisted pants, not a leather pencil skirt, not an inverted collar blazer. It's a face that is free - and I mean absolutely free, no mascara, no concealer, nothing - of make up. Except for the slightest hint of a moisturising lip balm or treatment, all the (pretty) girls this season are using Dior's facial wipes to clear away all that excess grit until all that is left is skin, skin, skin. Of course, you're allowed to cheat. Magazines have been filled with tips on how to get the "no make up" look with tons of make up. It involves things like "brightening serum" and "glowing cream" that gives your skin that youthful sheen without the teenage oily glean, it promotes things like vaseline on eyelids, carefully tweezed brows and a highlighting power to make the most of the symmetry that God gave you. Sure, all that stuff works, but for me - when going without make up is a daily occurrence severed only when dress codes (and nagging friends) forces my (lipstick wielding) hand - this look is at its most potent when there is absolutely no make up at all. When complemented with hair that is tousled and carefree - stragglers, frizz, split ends and all - sitting in a comfortable middle part, the whole thing is very simple and chic. It's tricky, difficult and absolutely uncompromising, just like minimalism. But - and here's the sweetener - just like minimalism, if you get it right, it is quite literally the sexiest, most powerful look there is.

A woman comfortable in her own skin.
