Staging a runway show is hard enough - without it having to be the nation's biggest runway show. Westfield pulled off the feat today with over 100 models - some chosen through a facebook competition, and even some Cleo Bachelors of the year thrown in for eye candy - strutting down a catwalk to celebrate the launch of the Westfield online shopping mall. It operates much as their stand alone malls do - bringing together retailers in one place allowing customers to compare and browse different retailers and "boutiques" while still shopping with the specific store. It's easy to use and understand, and they achieve this all with just one checkout! Fantastic. I was lucky enough to attend the official launch today, and sat front row at this catwalk event that gave a bit of everything - clothes for every occasion (Lowes workwear and "active" sportsgear from Lorna Jane made appearances amongst the Ellery and the Lisa Marie Fernandez), a sprinkling of half-naked men, some very cute children in even cuter kids clothing and a bit of dancing and humour to break it up. All in all a fun afternoon that really celebrated online shopping and Australian retailers.
